Marcela was appointed to the prestigious Chair of Applied Physics at the University of Sydney at the age of 32. Her research has focused on plasma processing and diagnostic techniques as well as thin film materials, fabrication and characterisation. She has worked on the development of new materials for applications in industries such as machining tools, microelectronics, optics and biomedical.
