Dr Saravana Kumar

University of South Australia

Saravana is a health services researcher who investigates the science of evidence implementation. His current research focuses on collaborating with health professionals, such as physiotherapists and chiropractors, to help them integrate research evidence into their clinical practice. Evidence is relevant to health, as decisions in health care should also be informed by evidence, ideally from current research. By doing so, he strives to achieve practice and behavior change which can ultimately result in better outcomes for patients. Saravana is passionate about evidence based health care as many popular health practices are not based on research evidence, thus resulting in poor quality, unsafe, costly and harmful health care practices. Saravana’s research aims are to address these gaps by identifying barriers to, and developing enabling strategies for, health professionals to implement evidence into practice and achieve practice and behaviour change.
