Dr Kelsey Pool WA 2024 Young Tall Poppy

Endocrine disrupting chemicals, climate change, in-utero stressors – our modern environment challenges our reproductive potential before we are even born!

Dr Kelsey Pool’s research investigates the interaction of our rapidly changing climate and environmental stressors on fertility, over multiple generations. Using livestock production systems as a model, her studies use a “cell to system” approach to understand the mechanisms driving trends in mammalian fertility.

Her work currently focuses on how chemicals in common diets contribute to infertility, strategies to improve reproductive success under extreme climates and the development of methods to measure maternal and fetal physiology in-situ.
