The University of Western Australia
Research Field: Clinical Exercise Physiology

Louise’s research is in the field of “exercise as medicine”, which explores how exercise can be used to not only prevent, but also to treat various diseases, in particular cardiovascular diseases, such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes.

Her research has established that different forms of exercise induce fundamentally different physiological adaptions, which may have important implications for the efficacy of prevention and management of various cardiovascular diseases as well as management of modifiable risk factors.

During her research career Louise has worked across a broad spectrum of health and disease, from elite athletes to chronically ill patients to develop a multifaceted understanding of cardiac and vascular physiology.
