Dr Angela Guerrero

Dr Angela Guerrero AIPS 2024 Queensland Young Tall Poppy

Dr Angela Guerrero’s work is a unique blend of social, ecological and institutional research. She uses qualitative (descriptive) and quantitative (numerical) data about society and ecological systems to pinpoint the challenges and opportunities for solving environmental problems. A key part of her work is studying how different groups, like government agencies, non-profit organisations, and local communities, work together, and the factors that makes them successful. She also looks at how these group’s connections with ecological systems can affect the success of environmental planning. Currently, Angela is focusing on sustainable agriculture. In particular, she is interested in understanding how different types of social relationships and structures can support farmers in the use of practices that are good for the environment. In essence, Angela’s research shows how important it is to combine STEM with social sciences to tackle our most urgent environmental issues.
