Dr Shelley Keating

Dr Shelley Keating 2024 Queensland Young Tall Poppy

Dr Keating’s research has established effective and personalised exercise approaches for people with MASLD. Her clinical studies have shown that aerobic exercise like brisk walking or cycling, can reduce liver fat by a beneficial amount, even in the absence of weight loss. In 2023 she led a team of dietitians, exercise specialists and liver doctors to develop the first MASLD exercise guidelines. Ongoing, her work aims to implement these guidelines in the Australian healthcare system and to better support people living with MASLD to commence and maintain regular exercise for long-term health benefit.
