Book as a Speaker

Dr Mary Dahm’s research is investigating how doctors communicate with patients while searching for a diagnosis, especially when they’re uncertain about a diagnosis. By analysing the words doctors and patients use, Dr Dahm is collecting evidence from real-life clinical interactions to understand how the way doctors and patients talk can affect diagnostic safety. Dr Dahm seeks to spread awareness of the importance of communication for safe diagnosis. Her goal is to develop guidelines and recommendations for doctors and patients to improve communication, reduce the risk of misdiagnosis and make health care safer.
