Dr Genevieve Healy

The University of Queensland, 2010 Queensland Young Tall Poppy of the Year

The majority of Australian adults spend most of their day sitting. Dr Healy’s work has already linked prolonged sitting to obesity, high blood sugars and blood fats, and premature death, regardless of any other exercise undertaken. Her current research is focused on workplace sitting behaviours and whether changes in these behaviours improve the health of workers overall. It is hoped these findings will lead to better workplace policies and office design.
