Natasha’s specific research focus is to identify genes and molecular events that are important for construction of the lymphatic vascular network. Despite the integral role that lymphatic vessels play in diseases that impact on a significant proportion of the human population, we know very little about the signals that regulate normal lymphatic growth and development, or the molecular basis of lymphatic disease origin. Her hope is that by understanding how lymphatic vessels are normally built, we will be able to intervene in this process in order to better treat lymphatic vascular diseases, either by promoting the growth and repair of new lymphatic vessels, or by preventing the inappropriate development of excess lymphatic vessels.
