Julia is a motor control neurophysiologist with a fascination for how the human brain learnss controls and remembers movements. Her two major interests are identifying factors that affect the early development of the brain areas controlling movement, and how these areas can be made to change their responsiveness to new or different incoming messages. Julia is currently investigating the consequences of being born small for gestational age (due to an adverse environment in the womb) on motor function in adulthood. She has also undertaken a study of non-cerebral palsy motor dysfunction in children born prematurely.
