Dominic endeavours to devise methods to improve the seismic resistance of adobe-mudbrick houses. His specific focus is on simple, affordable and effective solutions suitable for application in developing countries. In 2002 he undertook a research study focused on the damages to adobe housing and the process of reconstruction. Later, he co-ordinated the design and construction of a child-care centre in a small rural community in El Salvador, where he lived and worked alongside the local community.
