Dr Sarah Robertson

University of Adelaide

Sarah is studying the female immune response to semen, and its implications for embryo implantation and placental development. This research is vital for management of implantation failure, a major cause of infertility and miscarriage in humans and a significant constraint in livestock breeding. Sarah’s internationally-recognised research on immune problems in early pregnancy is also likely to reduce public health costs, since problems with placental development, which can compromise foetal growth, are associated with disease susceptibility in later life.
